Renaissance Africa Consult prepared the full Preliminary Masterplan Layout and Explanatory Notes for the feasibility study of a new world-class geothermal spa complex for the Geothermal Development Company (GDC) at Menengai Caldera.
The project entailed the complete conceptual design and spatial organisation of a 1.5 sq km geothermal spa resort that harnesses brine from the existing Geothermal Well No. 02. Key elements include a main lodge/reception complex with lounges, restaurants, bars, conference halls and administration facilities; a series of terraced bathing areas (hot geothermal baths, cooled spa pools, cold plunges and recreational swimming pools); varied accommodation from luxury villas and cottages to campsite zones; and a rich mix of experiential and recreational facilities such as an amphitheatre, zipline, reflexology walk, boardwalks, nature trails, play courts and helipad.
Support infrastructure covers security gate, staff quarters, parking, waste & water treatment plants, organic garden, and landscaped grounds that integrate sensitively with the caldera topography and views. The design establishes a clear public-to-private gradient while maximising the unique geothermal resource and dramatic natural setting for wellness, tourism, and recreational use. The deliverable was the complete feasibility master plan package (layout, legend, explanatory notes, and reference imagery), dated November 2024.
